Prices vary and some shoppers may be paying more
Customers buying milk at Tesco , Sainsbury's and Morrisons have been warned that they could be paying more depending on the location of their supermarket store. The tradition of popping to the shop for a bottle of milk could cost you more if you rely on smaller 'convenience' supermarkets, even if it's the same retailer.
However, a few items were cheaper at smaller stores - Doritos were 15 percent cheaper and Kenco Millicano instant coffee was 32 percent cheaper at Morrisons Daily. The consumer group noted that many of these communities suffer from poor access to large supermarkets, limited online-delivery options, and socio-economic challenges such as fuel poverty, leading to increased dependence on convenience stores. In fact, 66% of households earning less than £21,000 per year shop at a convenience store at least once a week.
