A new Covid variant with “significant mutations” is spreading in the UK
Health experts are warning a new “significantly mutated” variant of Covid is now spreading “in most regions” of the UK.
According to the UK Health Security Agency , there have been 54 confirmed cases of Pirola in the UK as of September 18, and the strain is now being monitored by the World Health Organisation . As such, people are being asked to get their autumn booster vaccinations to boost antibody protection and follow NHS guidance to prevent any further spread.
What are the rules on self-isolation? NHS advice states that you should try to stay at home and avoid contact with other people if you have Covid symptoms and either:Some people may also experience aches and pains, shortness of breath, a loss or change to your sense of smell or taste, and a high temperature or chills, according to the NHS.
