The latest coronavirus case data in your area, with 20 locations recording new cases in the past week
A number of areas in Lancashire have seen a rise in coronavirus cases in the past week. The latest official government figures in the week ending ending on September 23 shows that 20 locations across the county recorded an increase in positive Covid-19 cases.
We have focused on the areas that have 50-99 cases or the higher range of 100-199, according to the MSOA . The new figures come as people are urged to stay home if they have any of the seven common symptom of the new Pirola Covid variant.UK health officials have warned that "we’re in a potentially dangerous situation" with the new strain. Symptoms include a fever, or a sore chest and pains, as well as a continuous cough, changes in taste and/or smell, and tiredness.
The rollout was brought forward as a precaution against the latest Omicron subvariant of Covid-19, BA.2.86, although experts say there is currently no evidence the new strain is more likely to make people seriously ill than other variants in circulation, while vaccination is likely to provide ongoing protection.
