The walks ends near a pub with cask ales, a stunning setting and excellent food
For this week's suggested walk, we're heading right to the border of Lancashire and a little beyond. The extra travel time to Arnside is worth it though for the spectacular surroundings and views across the Morecambe Bay, Lakelake Fells and Yorkshire Dales.
The trail is a challenging one, spanning eight miles and likely to take four to five hours, but it is certainly worth the effort. Based largely on National Trust land, the varied trail takes you through the best Arnside and Silverdale AONB.It includes woodlands, limestone paths, and coastal tracks, leading you over one of the bay’s most spectacular viewpoints. Here, you can enjoy breathtaking landscapes of Arnside Viaduct, the Lakeland Fells, Yorkshire Dales and the Kent Estuary.
