More than an inch of rain is expected in New Jersey from Saturday evening through early Sunday, forecasters say.
While most of the daytime hours Saturday should be just cloudy, the weather service says showers and thunderstorms will push into the state from the west during the late afternoon and early evening from the west.
The heaviest rain will fall along the Jersey Shore and the Interstate 95 corridor with up to 1.25 inches of rain expected from the evening into Sunday, the weather service said in its Thursday morning forecast discussion. “Best chances for over an inch of rain look to be from Interstate 78 and points north,” the forecast discussion said. Some minor flooding is possible Saturday along the Atlantic Ocean and Delaware River, the weather service said.
On Sunday, there will be a chance of showers, but it should be a mainly dry day with highs in the upper 60s. The early part of next week — Monday through Wednesday — is expected to be dry with slightly below normal temperatures as highs only climb into the upper 50s to low 60s.
