The Gulf Coast will continue enjoying warm and dry conditions through Saturday before a weak front brings an isolated chance of showers Sunday morning, but forecasters say even weekend precipitation won’t make a dent in the region’s growing drought crisis.

An isolated shower chance Saturday will give way to a more widely scattered rain opportunity Sunday morning, though rainfall totals are expected to be minimal. We’re looking at very little meaningful rainfall from this system. The Gulf Coast continues to battle a significant rainfall deficit of nearly 11 inches so far in 2026.The good news for beachgoers: the conditions look fantastic. A lower risk of rip currents is expected Friday and into the weekend, making it an excellent time to enjoy the water. A few showers may move through Sunday morning at the beaches, but they won’t disrupt plans significantly.The dry pattern will reassert itself early next week, with mostly dry conditions expected through most of the week. Isolated showers are possible Wednesday and Thursday, but again, no meaningful rainfall is anticipated to help alleviate the drought situation. However, there’s a glimmer of hope on the horizon. The long-range forecast indicates a pattern change could bring more substantial rainfall by the following weekend.
