NATHANIEL FRAZIER For the Eagle It took a six-run sixth inning for the Wallace Govs to win the second game of their doubleheader against the LBW Saints Thursday afternoon. Trailing 4-2 when the inning began, The Govs were able to get to starter Gabe Bryant and closer Ben Moseley by sending 10 batters to the plate and pounding out six hits, leading to a Wallace 8-4 victory.
“What a way to come back,” Wallace coach Ryan Ihle said to his team afterwards. “Adversity builds a team and we did a heck of a job in completing the task.”“We had the lead twice today and each time they came back,” Helms said. “That’s the mark of a good team.” After Eubanks’ homer, the Saints tied the game in the third inning on a single from TJ Grines. The Govs retook the lead in the bottom half on an RBI single from Sean Darnell.
In the first game, Yohn gave up a two-run blast in the top of the first to Shelly, but Govs quickly answered in the bottom half of the inning.
