Wallace Govs battle back to win at Chipola

Wallace rallied to score four runs in the ninth inning and came away with a 7-4 victory.

“It’s all about how you start, but it’s more important how you finish.”

But in the end, the Govs got the finish they needed. Here’s how things went down. Both teams used a ton of pitchers. It was a typical midweek game where coaches wanted to get in a little work for their pitchers ahead of big games later in the week. Chipola used a total of 10 pitchers while Wallace used five. The problem was the Chipola pitching staff was much more effective than Wallace.

In the fifth inning, the Govs began to claw their way back into the game. Wallace scored single runs in the fifth, seventh, and eight innings to tie the game. That came with the help of a long solo home run from Jake Smith.
