A group of volunteers known as The Kennel Comfort ers meet monthly to create cozy beds for animals in San Diego County shelters. Primarily focused on cats, they also make beds for small dogs like Chihuahuas. The group's work takes place at the County of San Diego Department of Animal Services in Carlsbad, where they assemble comfy beds in various sizes and shapes.
Each bed features a heart sewn in the center, a symbol that originated from a personal experience and now represents the group's dedication to providing comfort and care. The Kennel Comforters distribute their beds to various animal shelters throughout San Diego County, including the two county shelters, the San Diego Humane Society in Oceanside and Escondido, Rancho Coastal Humane Society, and the Fallbrook animal shelter. Donations of fleece and filling are welcomed to support their efforts
