At 88, Walnut Creek's Barbara Proctor , nicknamed G.G., volunteers to read to second-grade students at Valley View Elementary School. Her engaging storytelling captivates the children, enabling her to hold their attention for 45 minutes. Proctor, a former teacher with over 70 years of volunteer experience, brings books to life for the students and instills in them the importance of reading and respect. She also volunteers at a homeless clothing store on Wednesdays.
