Support for the Voice to Parliament continues to slip to record lows as Opposition Leader Peter Dutton fails to capitalise on the proposal’s disastrous latest poll numbers.

The indigenous advisory body has lost even more ground less than three weeks to go until the decisive referendum vote with a Newspoll published in The Australian showing support has dropped to its lowest level.

The latest result in a long trend of disastrous polls marks the lowest point in support for constitutional recognition in the form of an indigenous Voice to Parliament. Support for the Voice fell from 41 to 36 per cent among women, while those indicating they would reject the proposal rose nine points to 57 per cent marking the first time both men and women were virtually tied in terms of voting intention.

The latest survey represents a staggering 20 point drop in support among the demographic since the beginning of the year. Satisfaction in Mr Dutton’s performance has also stumbled to its lowest point on record to 32 per cent, while the Liberal leader’s net approval rating sits at minus 20 per cent. Mr Albanese though still holds a commanding 20 point lead over Mr Dutton in terms of preferred prime minister as the Opposition Leader dropped one per cent to 30.

Ms Price said the referendum will just provide a platform for people to “argue, disagree and not get on with one another”. “This is about again those in the cities who are trying to impose their thinking onto regional and remote Australia,” she said. “We shouldn’t treat any Australian in this matter because of their racial identity.” Ms Price joined Outsiders to discuss the Voice to Parliament referendum.
