More than 50 Victorian and national health organisations say the Voice will positively impact health outcomes for First Nations people.
More than 50 health organisations have signed a statement of support for the Voice to Parliament.
The Victorian Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation also conducted a survey that found the majority of health care workers believed indigenous health and wellbeing outcomes would improve if those communities were more involved in Aboriginal health policy. "As health professionals we're constantly striving to understand and treat illness and how to achieve better health for our patients and community. To do this, to learn and to improve not only do we need to observe, but we need to listen," she said.
"I know that when we listen to communities, when we listen deeply and with respect, and when we factor their priorities into our decision making, we make better decisions," Mr Demaio said. "What I left with, though, was a profound education and shift in my perspective, with listening and collaboration being at the heart of this learning."
"His vision was for a men's clinic and a men's worker ... it came into fruition in April this year," Dr Rochstein said.
