Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has made his final pitch to Australians calling for them to vote yes; more than 9.2 million people are yet to vote; a record number of pre-poll votes were cast on Friday. Follow updates here.
Communications Minister Michelle Rowland is on the Sky News panel for tonight’s referendum coverage, and appears to be managing expectations for Labor already. “We took to the election commitment to have this referendum in our first term, we are honouring that commitment,” she said. “Now Australians always get it right. We will accept whatever decision the Australian people make.
“But I will say this: this has been an opportunity to give recognition to First Nations Australians, the recognition that they have asked for. The consultative process that they have asked to be enshrined in our Constitution. “We can have more of the same, or we can do something different. And that’s what this referendum has been about. Rowland thanked volunteers involved in the campaign.
