Viewers were left 'in tears' as Prince Harry recalled the moment Charles woke him up to tell him his mum, Princess Diana, had been in a car crash. In an exclusive TV interview with ITV, Harry emotionally spoke of the moment he received the news as a young boy.
Harry: The Interview aired on ITV 9pm, with extracts from his Spare audiobook, which was recorded by Harry himself, were played. The 38-year-old recalled: “I remember thinking, ‘Crash okay? But she’s alright, yes?’. I vividly remember that thought flashing through my mind and I remember waiting patiently for Pa to confirm that indeed, Mummy was alright, and I remember him not doing that."
It was then he said that his father told him that Diana had not survived her injuries. Charles allegedly said: “They tried, darling boy. I’m afraid she didn’t make it.”
