Police said there are four to seven suspects who have been seen using chains to pull the ATMs out of stores.Surveillance video from New York Food Mart on North Broadway shows a Jeep SUV pull up to the store on Saturday. The video shows five people get out, break the front door and connect a chain to the ATM inside the store. The suspects then drove off, dragging the ATM through the door and windows.-3500-block of North Broadway on January 12 at 2:57 a.m.-2600-block of West 39th Pl on January 12 at 3:22 a.m.-4400-block of South Western Avenue on January 13, 2026 at 4:23 a.m.-6500-block of North Sheridan Road on January 15, 2026 at 2:51 a.m.-2600-block of West Fullerton Avenue on 24 January, 2026 at 4:37 a.m.One of the places the thieves struck was Candy's Grocer on Ohio Street. The owner said it is the sixth time they've been robbed in the past three years. "I am considering even closing at this point. I can't really afford to keep doing this. It's not worth it and we've been lucky so far.that there's no injuries, but how long is that going to hold out. Is it worth the risk? Is it worth the cost? Everything is going up. I can't afford to be restocking the store and repairing a door. Police believe the same group is responsible for all of the break-ins. They're hoping someone recognizes the group from the new surveillance video.
