The cost of daily and hourly Myki fares will jump higher than inflation as Victorians struggle with multiple cost of living pressures.

A daily Myki ticket will increase from $9.20, while the single fare will rise from $4.60 to $5, according to the Herald Sun.

Regional commuters using V/Line will also see their fares increase in line with the metro passengers after the Andrews government delivered its election promise of drastically cutting fares. Victorian Greens MP Sam Hibbins argued the jump was unfairly “stinging” commuters who have already been impacted by rising costs from soaring inflation.

Weekend fares will also climb by the same percentage, with daily fares $7.20 instead of $6.70 while a single ticket will increase from $3.35 to $3.60.Those attempting to save coin with monthly and yearly Myki passes can anticipate their daily rate to rise from $5.52 to a flat $6 fare.
