Strong, sensual knitwear with a nod to classic American sportswear, Victor Glemaud's resort collection is perfect for easing back into dressing to impress.
“We’ve had reorders from Saks, Shopbop and Revolve; we’re shipping a June delivery to some stores asking for exclusives. Fall is in production already…” Life is good for designer Victor Glemaud, whose statement knitwear for every body is resonating in this comfort-dressing era.
For his resort collection, titled “American Beauty,” he tapped Leyna Bloom as his muse — the actress, activist, dancer and model who in March became Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue’s first trans model of color. “When we were shooting [the look book], I thought we needed to call this ‘American Beauty’ because that’s what this is,” Glemaud said of his inclusive vision.
No schlump or shapeless sweaters here: Glemaud’s brand is about strength and sensuality. A sexy winter-white rib turtleneck minidress with elongated cuffs; a red silk cashmere halter bra top and side-slit tube skirt set, and a cropped camel cable knit polo and matching skirt with black piping were made for easing back into dressing to impress without sacrificing softness.
Adding a distinct athleticism were Glemaud’s signature Vs as a cable appliqué graphic on top of sweaters, and side stripes on pants and skirts. Glemaud is looking forward to September, when he’ll be showing on the 20th anniversary of 9/11. “I have a whole idea about how to commemorate that.…I grew up in Queens, this is my city, I’m thrilled when there is more energy than not,” he said of the buzz that is building for in-person shows this fall. “It always helps when there are more people, it helps in terms of sales and visibility.”

Trump's grievances cloud Republican agenda heading into 2022Republicans are fighting to seize control of Congress. Look no further for evidence of the GOP's muddled governing agenda than battleground North Carolina, where party leaders packed into a convention hall Saturday night to cheer former President Donald Trump. Without such a strategy heading into 2022, Republicans on the ballot risk allowing themselves to be wholly defined by Trump, who lost his last election when he drew 7 million fewer votes nationally than Democrat Joe Biden and who has seen his popularity slide further, even among some Republicans, since leaving office in January.
