One person was killed Monday morning in a crash with a stolen U-Haul truck at the end of a pursuit in San Clemente.

The chase began just before 8 a.m. after deputies attempted a traffic stop on the stolen moving company van. The driver did not stop, leading to a brief chase that ended in a crash with a black SUV near Ola Vista and Granada in San Clemente.The driver in the other vehicle was killed. She was later identified as Maria Ramirezahmad, 53, of Anaheim, the Orange County Sheriff's Department said. Ramirezahmad was declared dead at the scene.Family members arrived at the scene later Monday.The driver of the stolen van, Mathew Alexander Ronquillo, 39, of Cerritos, took off from the crash site and tried evade arrest by running across the 5 Freeway. But a Sheriff's K-9 help apprehend Ronquillo, according to the sheriff's department.Ronquillo was booked for felony evasion, felony evasion causing great bodily injury or death, felony hit and run, gross vehicular manslaughter and possession of a stolen vehicle. The passenger of the stolen U-Haul, Gregorio Horacio Trejochavez of La Habra remained at the scene and was taken into custody. The 56-year-old was treated at the hospital and later booked at the Orange County Jail for a probation violation.
