m. on Monday March 30, 2026. One person was killed Monday morning in a crash with a stolen U-Haul van at the end of a pursuit in San Clemente. The chase began just before 8 a.m. after deputies attempted a traffic stop on the stolen moving company van. The driver did not stop, leading to a brief chase that ended in a crash with another vehicle near Ola Vista and Granada in San Clemente.One person in the other vehicle was killed. Other occupants were transported to a hospital. Details about their conditions were not immediately available. The crash was just blocks from the site of the traffic stop. The van slammed into a small SUV crossing an intersection. The driver and a passenger in the U-Haul left the scene, but two people matching their descriptions were located by deputies.
