Vicky White’s death leaves many questions. 'She was part of our family,' an Alabama sheriff said.
In the first few hours after former jailer Vicky White vanished with capital murder suspect Casey Cole White people thought the retiring, 17-year employee was taken against her will, Lauderdale County Sheriff Rick Singleton said Tuesday.
“We knew if that happened she would be in a lot of danger,” Singleton said. “The first day we began to get pieces of the puzzle that indicated she willing did this...He didn’t drag her out.” That realization that she was not being coerced slowly came into focus, he said, as investigators watched the video of her leading him from the jail.Investigators the day after the escape talked to county jail inmates who told them the two, who are not related, “had a thing going on,” he said.
