UrgentVet expands Houston footprint with new clinic in Kingwood
The company's business model emphasizes compassion, affordability and convenience, said Dr. Jim Dobies, doctor of veterinary medicine and Urgent Vet founder. He said he aims to bridge the gap between primary practices and 24-hour emergency vets.“I started my own practice, and I kept getting feedback from my clients in Charlotte that they were not satisfied with the options they had,” Dobies said.
A friend of his had written a paper on human urgent care and told him it seemed like there was one on every corner. That was a revelation to Dobies, and he began to narrow his scope and mission to begin UrgentVet.Stay updated on important stories and news to know around Kingwood, Humble and Atascocita
“We've been open now for more than seven years in multiple states, and we don't do boarding and grooming or any of those things,” he said. Instead, UrgentVet offers pets relief for mild illnesses and minor injuries with rates that Dobies said are significantly more affordable than comparable services. The exam fee is $99 which is far below traditional ER exam fees. The average price for a visit is $400, but Dobies pointed out it can be lower or higher depending on the reason for visit.
