Veolia Water customers say discoloration issues have left a mark — on them and their clothing.take a look at this — a picture of stained laundry taken by veolia

Veolia Water customers report that ongoing discoloration issues have left a lasting mark on them and their clothing. The owner of Around The Clock Laundry in Lower Paxton Township said they've overheard people using their washers complain that their home washers are creating stains rather than cleaning them.

Expert speaks on Veolia Water issues as customers seek testing kits for discolored water "I’m really upset because you know these things don’t come out easily," said Lindsay Machinist, a Lower Paxton Veolia customer. Veolia Water customers are reporting streaks of rusty-looking stains on their clothes, as the discolored water that has been a problem for weeks is going from their pipes into their washing machines. "We’ve also noticed on days where water is super discolored, the laundry has a weird smell to it," said Janelle Maurer, another Lower Paxton Veolia customer. Some say they've been experiencing the issue in parts of Susquehanna, Marysville, and Lower Paxton areas for months.Machinist, a mom to young kids, said she's paying additional costs for an open washer at the laundromat. Meanwhile, Maurer said these laundry issues have cost her close to $200 a month at home. "Every time we buy new clothes, we always run through the wash at first, so then I looked at the load, I was like, what just happened? Like, did I just waste all of this money?" said Maurer."It’s been using paid leave from work when I’d rather be using it for actual time off," Machinist said. "It’s been hard." Another customer reported that when they called Veolia about the same issue, they were advised to avoid using hot water and even received a rust and iron stain remover from the company. However, in a statement to CBS 21, a Veolia spokesperson stated that the use of the product does not indicate that rust or iron is the source of the discoloration. "Their response was you just wait until the water is no longer discolored. It hasn’t. I’ve never been very happy with the responses I have gotten from them," said Machinist. The following is a statement from Veolia Water PA's director of communications and community relations in the mid-Atlantic region: Customers are advised to call in to customer service and report the issue. A tech will be sent out to assist. For customers that call in to indicate staining from the water, we have provided a product that removes stains from fabrics, dishes and glassware, porcelain fixtures and other surfaces. The use of this product does not indicate that rust or iron is the source of the discoloration. However, it is important to note that iron is a naturally occurring element which may be present in ground and surface water sources from the natural decay of rocks and soil. It is the customers choice if they wish to go to a laundromat. We are advising customers to flush their cold water taps for 10-15 minutes. Customers can reach out to our Customer Service team if they continue to experience issues with discoloration at 888-299-8972.
