In the Vacation Friends sequel, Marcus takes his wife, Emily , and their friends Kyla , Ron , and Maurillo on an all-expenses-paid trip to a Caribbean resort.
During the trip, Marcus tries to land his company a major client: the owners of the resort. All the plans get derailed when Kyla's father, Reese , shows up unannounced at the resort, saying he got paroled. Though he says he just wants to enjoy time with his daughter, Reese soon starts exhibiting suspicious behaviors. Reese says he's taking the whole group snorkeling but sneaks them into Cuba instead. Only on the snorkeling trip do they learn Reese's real reason for coming to the Caribbean. This sets off an action-packed ending to Vacation Friends 2 involving Caribbean gangsters, a plane crash, and Marcus's work pitch.How Marcus Gets The Contract With The Kim Wae Group When Marcus doesn't arrive on time in Vacation Friends 2's ending, Ms. Kim prepares to leave on her helicopter. Marcus stops her just in time, and she gives him a hard time about leaving her waiting. While explaining to her why he was late, he makes a statement that shows an internal change. He tells Ms. Kim, "And if I can be honest with you, I don't give a f*ck no more." This shows that Marcus has changed his mentality about work. He realizes that his job, while important, shouldn't be his everything. Ms. Kim gives him a moment to speak but then interrupts to tell him he isn't getting the job. When Ms. Kim says that her gut tells her Marcus isn't right for the job, Yeon finally follows through on his earlier statement about standing up to his boss. He tells Ms. Kim that he disagrees with her about Marcus. To everyone's surprise, Ms. Kim decides to follow Yeon's advice. Yeon realizes through this interaction that he is the only person silencing his voice. This allows him to become more confident and self-assured. Additionally, it lands Marcus the job that he worked toward throughout Vacation Friends 2, providing his company with more financial security.Reese's Arrest & Twists Explained When Reese first appears in Vacation Friends 2, Kyla explains that her dad got paroled and showed up to surprise them. Anytime he's asked why he went to jail, Reese says that he was a victim of the system. Asked to elaborate, he claims he got incarcerated for eight years in San Quentin due to small tax write-offs. Marcus and Emily don't believe his explanation for going to jail or coming to the Caribbean. They continue being skeptical about Reese throughout the whole film, even when it drives a wedge between them and Kyla. It turns out their suspicions are 100 percent spot on, though, showing their strong intuition. Reese's secret plan to steal money from a drug lord lands the whole group in trouble. A drug lord's gang shoots at them, chases them down, and holds them at gunpoint. By the end of the movie, they escape danger and sit together on the beach. When asked what Reese will do after the vacation, he says he's going back to San Francisco. This shows that he hasn't changed very much as a character. He's still lying to his daughter about all the bad choices he made. Reese only reveals that he broke out of prison when FBI agents come to arrest him in the Vacation Friends 2 ending. How Ron Pays Off The Drug Dealers In Vacation Friends 2's Ending After Maurillo pretends to be Chencho Novar and threatens the drug dealers, they agree to release Ron and Marcus. They demand $5 million for Reese, though. To everyone's surprise, Ron tells them he will pay, wire-transferring the money to the criminals. As promised, they turn over Reese and leave amicably. This raises the question of how he got the money. It turns out, Ron took Reese's advice about investing in SCOM Coin. He invested $32,000 despite the volatility of cryptocurrency. The market boomed overnight, making Ron a multimillionaire. However, he didn't tell anyone since they'd been in life-threatening danger ever since he invested the money. This scene really exemplifies Ron as a character in the Vacation Friends movie series. He doesn't always make the smartest choices, but his risks often pay off in the end. It also confirms that he can make anyone like him, including the Caribbean drug dealers. On top of this, Ron paying for Reese's safe return changes their relationship for the better. Reese finally accepts his son-in-law, giving him a forehead kiss — the gesture that Ron called the highest sign of respect earlier in Vacation Friends 2. What Happens With Both Couples' Relationships In Vacation Friends 2's Ending At Vacation Friends 2's ending, both couples are in a different place than they were at the start of the movie. Ron and Kyla get closer as a couple after Ron gains the approval of her father. Kyla sees that Ron loves her because he's willing to accept her dysfunctional father as family. On the other side of things, Ron gains a better understanding of Kyla as a person, seeing how her father shaped her. Ultimately, they leave their vacation with a deeper emotional bond than they came with. Additionally, they now have millions of dollars with which they can support their family. Marcus and Emily have a major breakthrough toward the end of Vacation Friends 2. Emily figures out early in the movie that she doesn't want to have kids and spends most of the movie trying to figure out how to tell Marcus. During their high-speed chase, she blurts it out. In a happy turn of events, Marcus responds that he doesn't want kids either. This much-needed communication brings them together emotionally. Emily and Marcus both stop walking on eggshells around each other. Additionally, the ending shows that just because they're child-free doesn't mean they hate kids. They give an open invite for Ron and Kyla's baby to visit them anytime.How Vacation Friends 2 Sets Up Vacation Friends 3 A couple of elements of Vacation Friends 2's ending set up the possibility of Vacation Friends 3. In order for the second movie to happen, the writers needed to find a realistic way to pay for the vacation. Because Ron and Kyla become multimillionaires from SCOM Coin, they now have the money to pay for more vacations with Emily, Marcus, and Maurillo. Additionally, Maurillo's story and Yeon's story at the end of Vacation Friends 2 create potential plots for the third movie. Maurillo works up the confidence to ask out Veronika, a woman from the resort. Their relationship could offer a reason for the group to travel again in Vacation Friends 3. Alternatively, Marcus and Yeon developed a friendship at the end of Vacation Friends 2. The group could plan a vacation to visit Yeon, another potential jumping-off point for a third movie.
