Vaal University of Technology's vice-chancellor, Professor Dan Kgwadi, died on April 30 following an illness.The academic fraternity is reeling with shock over the death of the Vaal University of Technology Vice-Chancellor Professor Dan Kgwadi following an illness.City Press is yet to establish the details surrounding Kgwadi's death but according to a statement by the university's chancellor, Professor Mandla Rabede, Kgwadi died on Sunday.
It is with sadness to announce the news of the passing of our vice-chancellor and principal Prof Dan Kgwadi. According to the family, he passed away last night due to illness. "On behalf of VUT, I wish to take this opportunity to express our heartfelt condolences to his family, relatives, friends and colleagues. Liaising with the family, we will share further details on the memorial and funeral services when available."Professor Bismark Tyobeka, a former colleague at North West University where Kgwadi was vice-chancellor before his move to VUT, expressed his shock in a statement.
Kgwadi was raised in a small, obscure rural village of Kraaipan in North West.
