The Uvalde CISD Moving Forward Foundation called it the largest private contribution so far in the effort to replace Robb Elementary School.
UVALDE — A crowd gathered around a construction site to celebrate a $10 million gift that will help transform the property into a new campus to replace Robb Elementary School , which has sat empty since the May 2022 killing of 19 children and two teachers. The Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District broke ground on the campus last fall land construction began in February.
The donor is also issuing a $5 million grant to match every new donation to the Moving Forward Foundation’s “Hope Blooms in Uvalde” campaign. Raising the $5 million and receiving those matching funds will complete the foundation’s fundraising effort, a news release said. After the Uvalde massacre, one of the deadliest school shootings in U.S. history, Robb Elementary students were dispersed to other campuses throughout the district.
