The Roadrunners entered Sunday on a three-game win streak after a 2-12 start to the league season, but a loss keeps UTSA as the AAC tournament's last seed.
Just more than two weeks ago, UTSA was mired in a seven-game losing streak, seemingly sliding toward a third straight year at the bottom of the conference standings with just a few games remaining. But as the Roadrunners entered their regular-season finale Sunday, the program was in range of an unlikely charge to a first-round bye in the league tournament, riding a three-game win streak.
Miller, a 6-foot-1 guard, dribbled down the shot clock and used a screen to switch onto a larger defender in 6-foot-10 UTSA forward Trey Edmonds. Miller attempted to attack the lane, but Edmonds matched him step-for-step, forcing Miller to pivot and shoot a high-arcing, fadeaway jumper that passed cleanly through the net. After setting a career high with 23 points in UTSA’s win against SMU, Carter raised the bar with a game-high 27 on Sunday, hitting 6 of 7 from 3-point range.
