Before the little ghouls hit the streets for trick-or-treating Tuesday night, safety experts are urging parents to map out the safest route.
Utah Highway Patrol officials said they’ve already seen eight fatal auto-pedestrian crashes this month. High speeds and decreased daytime hours are just a couple of reasons why October is so dangerous for pedestrians.
“It’s for other kids, now. We’ve got people in the neighborhood, ‘Well, when are you going to start doing it? Can we help?’ They want to be part of it,” Prince said. “If we’re going in a neighborhood knowing this and seeing there’s a lot of people out there, if people aren’t slowing their speed, that is a possibility,” Roden said.“First off, we want to message as much as we can and let people know that law enforcement is going to be out,” Roden said.Other parents were worried about a different issue — sex offenders.
