Forecasters say the strongest gusts will likely occur near the U.S.-Mexico border, Otay Mountain and Ramona, and relative humidity will be low everywhere
The Santa Ana winds that helped spread small wildfires on Sunday will continue into early Tuesday across much of San Diego County, where the relative humidity will drop to between 5 percent and 15 percent, the National Weather Service said. 'There could be 50 mph to 60 mph gusts along some inland mountain slopes, foothills and valleys,' said Joe Dandrea, a weather service forecaster. 'We're already seeing strong winds along the border and Otay Mountain.
There's another corridor that could bring the winds into Ramona and maybe Carlsbad, where the gusts could hit 30 mph to 35 mph.' Most of the gusts are arriving from the northeast, which enhances the flow of Santa Ana winds in San Diego County. The weather service does not plan to issue a wildfire advisory. However, a wind advisory is in place for virtually all areas east of Interstate 15. San Diego's daytime high will be 78 on Monday and 80 on Tuesday. The seasonal average is 74.
