Usha Vance has said she and her husband, Vice President JD Vance, do not “see eye to eye“ on all issues.

Second lady Usha Vance has revealed that she has disagreements with her husband, Vice President JD Vance, saying that they do not"see eye to eye" on all issues. "I'm not his staffer. I'm not involved in this in any professional sense.

..There's no expectation that we are going to"The expectation is that we are going to be open-minded and have a conversation, and that I'll provide meaningful input from, you know, the perspective of someone who loves him and wants him to succeed. So even if we don't agree, it's — I think it's always very productive." The second lady was a registered Democrat as of 2014, according to voter registration records previously reviewed bycontacted the White House for comment via its website outside of regular working hours.Usha told NBC News that despite previously being a registered Democrat, she feels comfortable in her current position as she has not been asked"to engage in any kind of litmus test on anything." She said she serves as a sounding board to her husband when issues feel"intensely personal," but noted the Vice President has a full team of policy advisers for official deliberations. "What I've found is that I was myself in 2014. I can be myself today. And I feel very comfortable in that world," she said."I don't feel like I have to walk around pretending anything of any sort. I didn't think I had to do that, actually. "Sometimes I have thoughts that fit very comfortably into one side or another. Sometimes I have views that are way more idiosyncratic. And it's a world that I think is actually rather accepting of that, since everyone knows that I really care greatly about JD's success."."No, we're two different people. We have lots of different backgrounds and interests and things like that, so we come to different conclusions all the time. But that's part of the fun of being married. What I never doubt about Vance, even when I disagree about this or that, is his intention. What it is that he really wants to do and I really trust that," she said. Speaking to NBC News, the second lady also commented on the possibility of her husband running for president in 2028, saying it it was not a"priority" during their current conversations. "JD is very focused on the midterm elections right now, on all the things that are happening right this moment, which are obviously exceedingly important. And so if you come back in 2027 and ask me, I'll have a better sense of, you know, what he's thinking in that way," she said. The second lady also discussed her new podcast,"Storytime With the Second Lady," which is launching on Monday. "It's a podcast that really is just for children. The notion is we will have someone come in—a special reader, we're calling them—read a fun book, have a very short little conversation about things related to the book, maybe about their career, if they have some sort of interesting background, and then invite children to pick up books on their own. It's sort of just an advertisement for reading," she said.. The couple currently have three children: Ewan, 8, Vivek, 6, and 4-year-old Mirabel.
