The USDA Forest Service announced a new forest supervisor to lead in the management of Alabama’s four national forests.

Linwood Butler will supervise the Bankhead, Conecuh, Talladega and Tuskegee National Forests that cover more than 673,000 acres in 17 Alabama counties. Butler is responsible for the management, protection, and development of the natural resources. He says he is honored and humbled to serve as forest supervisor.

“I look forward to working with National Forests in Alabama employees, Tribes, federal and state partners, cooperators, national forest stakeholders, visitors and the public as we steward the land for present and future generations,” he said. “I am excited to welcome new visitors and underserved communities to enjoy the benefits of national forests.
