Kingsbury, 43, spent the past four years as head coach for the Arizona Cardinals after a six-year tenure as head coach at Texas Tech, and few can deny his resume as a quarterbacks coach.

USC is adding a vaguely familiar face to its coaching staff, as Kliff Kingsbury will join the Trojans as an offensive analyst, according to multiple reports.

Kingsbury, 43, spent the past four years as head coach for the Arizona Cardinals after a six-year tenure as head coach at his alma mater, Texas Tech. Between those two tenures, Kingsbury spent a little more than a month at USC. After being fired by Texas Tech following the 2018 season, Kingsbury was hired by Clay Helton to be the Trojans’ offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach. But 34 days later, he agreed to become the Cardinals’ head coach and was replaced by Graham Harrell at USC.

Kingsbury’s results as a head coach have been mixed. He made the postseason once with Arizona but went 28-37-1 in his four seasons in the NFL and finished with a 35-40 record at Texas Tech. But despite the middling record as a head coach, no one can deny Kingsbury’s resume as a quarterbacks coach. He’s worked with the likes of Patrick Mahomes and Baker Mayfield at Texas Tech, Johnny Manziel at Texas A&M and Case Keenum at Houston. In Arizona, he helped Kyler Murray earn NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year honors in 2019 and two Pro Bowl appearances.
