After the death of a woman in 2021, neighbors claim squatters moved into a home where it's alleged that they created a trash-strewn mess and even ignited a fire

Trash and junk scattered in the yard of a home in Harlem Township in Delaware County, Ohio . On Your Side, ABC6 News investigates what you can do if alleged squatters move into the house next door. April 29, 2024 couple said he wants to pursue a claim on his parents’ home, which has deteriorated and become a neighborhood eyesore and haven for squatters. But he remains in the county jail on drug charges, while others appear to be making claims to the home.

Investigations led to the son of the couple, David Sherman, who admitted to moving in to the home after his mother died and said he brought friends.Sherman is one of two next of kin of Mervin and Charlotte Sewell who owned the home. Sherman claims his brother doesn’t want the home. The brother has not returned phone calls and emails to"It was my mom's wishes that I live there,” he said. “It was the running joke for years, 'all this is yours.

Sherman is in jail on a felony drug charge after sheriff’s deputies found meth in his pocket during one of the more than 40 trips to the home deputies made in the last two years.
