When reached for comment Wednesday, Brandon Porter, the SBC Executive Committee’s vice president of communications, sent an emailed statement. “The way of Jesus is the way of grace, across the board. It empowers, raises up, and releases girls and women into His gifting. It is the way of equality and justice. The way of Jesus calls us to selfless love for our neighbor, compassion for the vulnerable, advocacy for the abused, and care for the marginalized,” according to the statement.written by the church’s senior pastor Jeff Warren in 2023 that advocates for “affirming unlimited roles for women in ministry.
