Undisputed was released on October 11, and while it has some qualities, there are some issues with gameplay and areas of opportunity with the career mode. The developers at Steel City Interactive are well aware of the parts of their game that need to be improved.
The game’s official X account posted an update and a message to fans. One fan on Twitter wrote,"December is crazy after I paid $80." Two months is a pretty long time to wait for an update. The saving grace in this instance is that Undisputed was never planned to be an annual release. It was designed to evolve over time with new updates rather than entire new retail releases. That said, two months is still a long time to wait.Google’s Update Mistake Confirmed As Millions Of Pixel Owners Install Android 15 ‘$500 Billion In Three Weeks’—Tesla Billionaire Elon Musk Issues ‘Crazy’ Fed ‘Bankruptcy’ Warning After Sparking Bitcoin Price Panic High-level combat sports gamer and combat sports athlete Gleb Tokarev said,"This game has been in early access on PC for 21 MONTHS. The game dropped now at FULL PRICE!!! These updates must come fast." It's difficult to argue with Tokarev's statement. While those on the development side may have information that speaks to the situation's complexity, making it a bit more complicated than Tokarev and others believe, this take is not totally off base. Even if it is inaccurate, it's still the perception, which we all know matters. Another user on the positive side said:"Major W. All the people complaining about December have no idea how long it takes to make sure a game is perfect, especially since these guys are a new company. Give them time, and soon this game will be brilliant, which it already is; it just needs those little tweaks, which all we need is patience for."Most fans have no idea how long it takes to make a bad game–let alone a good one. Things happen in game development, and the team at Undisputed is doing the right thing by communicating transparently.Digger deeper into the specifics of the update; here are the details of what the Undisputed team is focusing on with the first update. I'll drop some reactions between bullet points. Stagger hit reactions causing desync issues, which lead to players being unable to fight effectively. The stagger hit reactions are solid conceptually, but as the note says, the animations take the controller out of the player's hands for too long. Also, the staggers don't appear to impact the judges' scoring. If a fighter hits their opponent and causes a clear staggering, 90% of the time they're likely to have won the round–unless the other fighter has also created those kinds of moments. Staggers and stuns should be a metric kept in the fight stats and used to judge which fighter won the round. Power punches consistently bleed through blocks, meaning winning a fight online is largely down to throwing power punches. This issue is the biggest from a gameplay standpoint. The game is now based on spamming power shots, but that wasn't the intention when it was conceptualized. I've spoken with Ash Habib, the head of the studio, on multiple occasions, and that was never his vision. Because of this, I have great confidence this aspect of the game will be corrected. This issue is an effect of the problem in the bullet point above. A fighter like Wilder doesn't have the requisite balance because there isn't sufficient defense against power shots and because there isn't a significant impact on stamina. This is a no-brainer which has to be fixed immediately. This issue should be fixed ASAP, and it's tough to understand why this one must wait until December. I'm not sure when the next available branch or update is planned, but considering users paid extra for access to fighters like Roy Jones Jr. and Julio Cesar Chavez Sr., they should be able to use them now.I haven't seen this issue, so I can't comment, but I'd imagine it is a drag to experience–especially in an online match.I'm a PS5 guy, so again, this is an issue I cannot relate to. While December feels too long, I'm hopeful the update delivers the first round of changes that pushes Undisputed closer to its potential. Also, it might not be a bad idea for the Undisputed team to underpromise and over-deliver. If there is any way to get an update out to the fans before December, it will make a strong impression on the community. Our community is about connecting people through open and thoughtful conversations.
