One of the most bitter feuds in UFC history comes to a head on Saturday at the RAC Arena in Perth, Australia.
Both men are native Africans, but Du Plessis is a white South African, and Adesanya is a black Nigerian forced to migrate to New Zealand for safety. This claim and the automatic competition between the two men based purely on competing in the same weight class has made for one of the most tense matchups in recent history.
"And I was just, like, it's a weird mindset, bro. Like he came in the UFC, I knew who he was a little bit, but I didn't go, 'Oh, who the f*** is this fake dude coming in?' I just said, 'Cool, he's another African in the UFC.' But then him discrediting me, Francis Ngannou, and Kamaru Usman, that ticked me off a little bit. So that's what started this.
