The Placentia lightweight brings an eight-fight winning streak, with a title shot on the line, against the former champion in Saturday’s co-main event.

Beneil Dariush admits to feeling guilty.

Along the way, Dariush has been the one 155-pounder no one wants to fight. Of the top-ranked names after champion Islam Makhachev, the likes of Michael Chandler, Dustin Poirier and Justin Gaethje have been fighting each other, challenging Oliveira for the title or chasing lucrative paychecks against Conor McGregor.

Speaking of comebacks, once upon a time Oliveira, 34, had lost four of six fights from 2015-17. An incredible reversal of fortune led to the Brazilian rattling off 11 consecutive victories over the next four-plus years. What’s more, his last three wins were successful title-defense finishes against Chandler , Poirier and Gaethje.
