-Philippine security cooperation activities,' according to the command. The service member and defense contractors constituted the sole occupants of the aircraft. The plane descended into a rice field in the vicinity of Ampatuan, a small municipality situated in the southern Maguindanao del Sur province. The cause of the crash remains under investigation, the command disclosed.Windy Beaty, a provincial disaster-mitigation officer, informed The Associated Press that she received reports indicating that residents observed smoke emanating from the aircraft and heard an explosion prior to the plane plummeting to the ground within less than a kilometer (approximately half a mile) of a group of farmhouses. Four bodies were recovered from the crash site. Although no individuals on the ground sustained injuries, a water buffalo tragically perished in the incident.
