The year’s final tennis grand slam tournament will be fully open to spectators after last year’s event took place in front of empty stands.
The U.S. Open will allow 100% spectator capacity for its entire two-week schedule when it takes place later this year in New York, the U.S. Tennis Association announced early Thursday, making it the first grand slam tennis tournament to impose no restriction on fan attendance since the start of the pandemic.AFP via Getty Imagesthe Associated Press, tickets for all courts and ground passes will go on sale in July.
The tournament—which is the final grand slam of the calendar year—is scheduled to take place from August 30 to September 12 at Flushing Meadows in New York. Some of the tournament’s biggest games and all the finals will take place at Arthur Ashe Stadium which has a capacity of 23,771.that they will be holding one of their weekly shows at the Arthur Ashe Stadium on September 22 with fans in attendance.
The New York Mets have also announced plans to return to full capacity for next week’s game at Citi Field.
