The U.S. Marshals Service said Catrailon Trevarius Jarrell, 21, of Baton Rouge, was taken into custody Wednesday and charged with murder in the April 17, 2024, shooting at Bartholomew Park in east Austin.
A suspect wanted in connection with a deadly 2024 shooting at an East Austin park has been arrested in Louisiana, authorities said. According to an arrest affidavit, Austin emergency crews responded to the park, located at 1800 E. 51st St., and found a man inside a vehicle near a basketball court with a gunshot wound. The victim was taken to a hospital, where he later died. The Austin Police Department obtained a warrant for Jarrell’s arrest on Oct. 15, 2025, and requested assistance from the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force to locate him. Investigators determined Jarrell was in Louisiana, prompting coordination with the U.S. Marshals-led Middle Louisiana Fugitive Task Force. Authorities said Jarrell was arrested on March 25 after a barricade situation in Zachary, Louisiana, where he was found hiding in an attic.
