Police arrested an intoxicated Berea man Aug. 30 after someone saw him lying on grass. In a separate incident, an intoxicated Berea man was arrested Aug. 31 after police found him sitting on a sidewalk on Prospect Street.
An intoxicated Berea man, 32, was arrested at about 8 p.m. Aug. 30 after someone saw him lying on grass near a bike path at Park and West Center streets. The caller said the man was laughing as he was lying there.
When police arrived, the man was walking on the bike path. He was unsteady on his feet and stumbled from one side of the path to the other. When the man noticed police, he stopped and turned right into the woods. Police followed him. He stood with his back toward police. Police asked the man if he was urinating. He said yes. After he finished, he backed up and almost fell onto a tree. The man was wearing an Oktoberfest lanyard around his neck. He smelled like alcohol and was unable to walk in a straight line. In a separate incident, an intoxicated Berea man, 61, was arrested at about 12:30 a.m. Aug. 31 after police found him sitting on a sidewalk on Prospect Street between Hartman and Harnagy streets. Someone called police after seeing the man sleeping on grass. The caller said the man was unable to walk steadily. Police recognized the man from previous drunken incidents. He smelled like alcohol and slurred his speech. He could not sit up on his own.
