Two small dogs were rescued after being thrown into the cold water of Dog River in Mobile, Alabama. Witnesses heard the dogs hitting the water and the gasps of a family who saw the incident. First responders, including members of Daphne Search and Rescue, the Mobile Police Department, and concerned citizens, worked together to find the dogs in the marsh. After two hours of searching, the dogs were safely retrieved and are reported to be in good condition.

Joshua Gibbs with Daphne Search and Rescue was taking the squad's truck to be refueled Saturday when he reached the top of Mobile's Dog River Bridge. He would soon learn something awful had just taken place there.

DJ Perryman was having a bite to eat nearby at the popular River Shack when he heard gasps from a family at a nearby table. He's also heard something else. The two little dogs had managed to swim through the icy water and reach marsh land on the north bank... cold, dazed and confused. After two hours of exhausting teamwork from so many the pup, and an older dog that could be its mother, were in a much safer place.

And as the search intensifies for that person in the black car who tossed these two over the rail of that bridge, it's good to know there are people passionate enough to make sure this story has a happy ending.
