We're taking a look at cadet training, after two dogs were shot and killed in their backyard by an SAPD Officer back in October.Since then, we've heard from many of you questioning why the officer killed the dogs.

So, we spent time at the SAPD academy for a first-hand look at how sergeants are preparing officers for quick reactions in the field. "What was he doing? What were you on? What were you thinking?" Saybra Sekula questioned. "You're sworn in to serve and protect the public, this was their house." Saybra and her husband, Trey, had two dogs who were shot and killed at their home by an SAPD officer during what they say was an unexpected visit. The big question many people have after an officer-involved shooting is whether or not that officer made the right choice. To answer that question we came to The San Antonio Police Academy to try our hand at some real-life scenarios.

"We can load up I think, 500 to 600 scenarios," Training Sgt. Edward Pedraza explained. "They get to respond to that how they would in real life.""You'll have a few seconds to make that decision, which tool do I need to use? Do I have time to use this? Is it best to use this? " Pedraza said. "Can I talk my way out of this or do I have to resort to deadly force and pull my pistol?""I am devastated, that's all," Saybra said.
