San Jose, Santa Clara events will feature charity bagging challenges Wednesday and giveaways Saturday
The South Bay is getting two new FoodMaxx stores this week, one on Blossom Hill Road and one on El Camino Real. West Coast grocery giant Save Mart is transitioning two of its South Bay stores from Lucky supermarkets to FoodMaxx warehouse-style stores.
Both locations — in South San Jose and in Santa Clara — will celebrate the reopenings with ribbon-cutting ceremonies on Wednesday that will feature gift-card donations to local charities and other festivities. The public is invited to attend.The most delicious canvas, the pizza box, stars in East Bay art showThen on Saturday, Nov. 8, starting at 6 a.m., the first 100 shoppers at each store who spend $20 or more will also receive a free bag of groceries and a $10 off $50 coupon.Besides the 9:30 a.m. ribbon cutting, there will be a 10 a.m. grocery-bagging challenge with local nonprofits, including Second Harvest of Silicon Valley, CityTeam San Jose and Sacred Heart Community Service. Also, San Jose Earthquakes player Beau Leroux will be in attendance to greet fans and sign autographs.After the 1:30 p.m. ribbon cutting at this location, there will be a 2 p.m. grocery-bagging challenge with local nonprofits, including the Bill Wilson Center and Second Harvest of Silicon Valley.The most delicious canvas, the pizza box, stars in East Bay art showThe Save Mart Companies operate 191 Save Mart, Lucky and FoodMaxx stores in California and Nevada, along with other groceries in Oregon and Washington. After the South Bay transformations, there will be 57 Lucky and Lucky California stories open in the greater Bay Area and on the Central Coast, store executives said.
