Much of the structure was plated in gold, with a gold escalator by the entrance.Floridian officials had lobbied to get the grandiose structure built in Miami, with former Miami Mayor Francis Suarez saying the placement of the library in the city would “cement Miami’s role as a gateway for ideas, culture and leadership that shape the future” and allow Miami to take “its rightful place as a truly great global city.” “President Trump has a great story to tell,” Florida Attorney General Uthmeier said in September. “As Miami becomes capital of the world in many respects, I think it will be a great location.”
