Rain bands from Francine could cause isolated tornadoes in Alabama on Thursday. The areas in yellow have a Level 2 out of 5 risk for severe weather today. The areas in dark green have a Level 1 risk. In addition to storms there could be heavy rain and gusty winds statewide.Alabama was bracing for heavy rain, gusty winds and the possibility of tornadoes on Thursday thanks to nearby Tropical Depression Francine.
There have been few tornado warnings issued by the National Weather Service in Mobile as of 6 a.m., and they were for the Florida Panhandle. NOAA’s Storm Prediction Center has much of Alabama in a Level 2 out of 5 risk for severe weather today, which means that scattered severe storms will be possible .A Level 1 severe weather risk will linger over part of Alabama on Friday in the areas in dark green.Life threatening rip currents continue thru Friday afternoon. High surf of 7-10 feet continues today & should subside to 4-6 feet by this evening.
