Alaska State Troopers are looking for a man from Seward who they say is associated with a “violent felony crime” that left a 51-year-old woman dead early Wednesday morning.

Officers found Lowry Jr. at the scene with a gun on him. Troopers said as they were taking the firearm from him, Lowry Jr. escaped from the scene, triggering a manhunt by a trooper SWAT team and additional Kenai Peninsula police teams. Investigators say they believe Cubley had threatened to shoot herself and was hit by a bullet when the gun went off while Lowry was trying to take the gun from her.
