The Office of Special Prosecutions has cleared an Alaska State Trooper of any wrongdoing after he shot — but did not kill — a teen girl earlier this year in a small Southwest Alaska town.

MARSHALL , Alaska - two Alaska State Troopers, as well as a village officer, came to a residence after receiving reports the woman was threatening to kill herself and was armed with a handgun.

The report says Trooper Christopher Green fired his handgun twice at the woman, but did not injure her, and immediately dropped the gun. He later told an investigator he shot at her because she was pointing her gun at him.The report goes on to say after the woman was eventually handcuffed, she repeatedly told Green that he should have used a taser, and he should have killed her.

Green responded, “That’s not the way it works. You point a gun, you’re gonna get a gun pointed back at you.”The trooper told the investigator that he and the woman made eye contact before he shot her, and there was “no mistaking” that he was a trooper because he was in full uniform. The woman was detained and treated for an injury she received before the shooting took place. She later said pointing the gun at the trooper was a misunderstanding.Family mourns the loss of two loved ones to drowning this summerAnchorage Fire Department says teamwork helped save life of trailer fire victim
