Despite a late surge by Bishop McDevitt, fueled by Damir Arp's 27 points and Patrick Denisco's 16 points, Trinity held on for their third consecutive win.
In an environment that rivaled a playoff atmosphere per their head coach, Trinity’s boys basketball team was able to compose itself during a fourth-quarter surge to hold off cross-town rival Bishop McDevitt.The ‘Rocks, backed by a 25-point showing by star guard Owen Schlager , topped the Crusaders 75-66 on Tuesday night, winning their third-straight contest in a packed gym at McDevitt.
The ‘Rocks would dominate offensively in another fast-paced third quarter, going up by as much as 20 and capping the quarter with a Schlager coast-to-coast buzzer-beating layup to put the team up 60-42. But Schlager would hit enough free throws late to render the late defensive inconsistency irrelevant, and Trinity would leave with the win.“The first three quarters, we did a great job containing . He was on our scouting report as their best player, but we kind of let him go off in the fourth. Their whole team killed us in the fourth. We were up 21 maybe 20, at one point, and we’ve been struggling in close games all year. Susquehanna Township had a comeback. We lost Mount Zion on a comeback.
