Dilfer made remark after Saturday’s loss to Navy in justifying grandson sitting with him at interview table

Dilfer looked off camera and said, “He can come up. There’s two of them . It’s not like this is freakin’ Alabama. REPORTER: “Trent, during the postgame presser, you ‘This is not freakin’ Alabama.’ What would you say to UAB fans who may have perceived this as something you didn’t mean to say or could you just elaborate on what you meant to say?”“There were two there, OK?,” Dilfer said. “And my grandson wanted to come up. And I heard little stirring, and I said ‘There’s two people here. This isn’t friggin’ Alabama’s press conference.’ My grandson can come up.”Sep. 27, 2024, 6:08 a.m.
Vincent stepped in as interim coach after Clark retired suddenly during the summer of 2022 due to health issues, and led the Blazers to a 7-6 record and a Bahamas Bowl victory. However, he was passed over for the permanent job in favor of Dilfer, a former NFL quarterback, television analyst and high school coach who had never coached at the college level.
