Simelton says since that policy was introduced, more than 3,000 people have been removed from the rolls.While the state is sending out letters to notify people of their voter status and offering the chance to re-register if it’s a mistake, Simelton believes they shouldn’t have to go through that process.
The plaintiffs involved in this lawsuit believe the policy unfairly targets naturalized citizens, suppressing their voting rights.
